Club boxes

A view of dark purple poppies and their seed heads

We are often asked if we do subscription boxes or advent calendars and the answer has always been a firm no and then, if you’re really unlucky, a long explanation of why not, but we’ve changed our minds.

We’ve decided to try a club box, a run of three to see how they go and all with a definite theme so hopefully there won’t be any disappointment with the colour, but then we decided to make them a little bit more crafty.

The first box was based on Papaver sominferum Black Single, they self seed all over the garden in the summer and I always collect the seed. That was the seed organised and we added a hand made wooden label from Overthrow Sieves and Riddles, the labels are made from the offcuts. I’m saving up for a sieve for the garden, they are things of beauty. At the first nursery I worked at we had a wall of them.

Two skeins of yarn in the same colour but different bases so they're slightly different

To make it a little more crafty still  Nicola designed an embroidery with all the threads and needles.

To finish off we had a card printed of the flowers last year.

The contents of a club box laid out Dark plum yarn and a yellow mini skein, a greetings card, seed packet, handmade wooden label and an embroidery kit

There is also a link to a page for pdfs on how to sow the seeds, stitch suggestions for the embroidery and a recipe for almond, lemon and poppy seed cake.

The boxes we have planned will all be different, maybe with seeds, something quirky or local but with a craft project and a definite hint to the colour just to save disappointment. You only pay for the month you want and pick the base you’d like. We’ll also do an option for yarn only for anyone who doesn’t want the extras or for posting abroad.
