A&P Naturally Dyed Yarns

£20.00

Dyed with either traditional dye extracts or plant material foraged from my garden and surrounding area, these yarns are one of a kind colours.  The yarns are mordanted with alum and cream of tartar.

These unique colours will develop a history over time having the potential to change by either fading or darkening depending on how they are stored, worn and washed, nothing is permanent. Always store out of sunlight, hand wash with a pH neutral detergent and rinse in cool water.

A&P Yarn Club

£31.00£34.00

January at The Knitting Shed and things have turned a little dark.
Having listened to far too many Agatha Christie audio books than were probably good for us, our next subject for the club box is poison.

The photo is a massive clue for the colour of the specially dyed 100g skein of yarn in the base your choice. There’s a very vintage element, a small sewing project and we’re out in the garden with some seeds.

If you live outside the UK or in NI we shall substitute the seed element of the box with a specially dyed 20g mini skein in the same base as your choice.

Bases available:
Classic Sock
: 100g/365m, 80% superwash merino and 20% nylon.
Washing – Machine washable on a gentle wool cycle using a mild detergent or hand wash.

Postal date: 26th January
Items ordered at the same time as the Club Box will be posted with the box on the 26th January.

The gallery picture show previous box contents and the two bases together so that you can see how the yarns take the dyes. There’s also a blog post about the first one here

Concorde Hat Kit

£22.00

The graphic patterning of this hat reminds us of the iconic silhouette of the passenger jet Concorde. Our Dad worked on the electronics so we would all dive outside to see it fly over in the 70s and 80s, like a Spitfire, you couldn’t mistake the sound of it.

The kit comes with enough of our hand dyed 4ply Blue Faced Leicester Masham yarn to make either size hat using either colour as the main.
The yarn is next to the skin soft with a slightly heathered look on the lighter colours and the charted pattern would make a perfect beginners colour work project.

Contains  2 x approx 30g skeins of Blue Faced Masham 4ply, a printed pattern and a packet of bulb pins.

Heath

Heath

£4.25£6.75

We really recommend that you sew in ends and wash all tension squares before measuring to get the true size and feel of the sample.
As a single ply yarn, to minimise twisting we recommend laying the skein over the back of a chair when winding into a ball – or you could coerce a friend.

Recommended needle – 2.75mm-3.75mm
Fibre – 70% merino lambswool,  30% mohair
